Pedestrians get stuck in a bottleneck.

Observations:

1) Single pedestrian gets stuck - stops moving

It is not clear why the pedestrian stops moving.

2) Two pedestrians - dead lock

We assume that the pedestrians block each other from moving through the bottleneck.
