Default values for AttributesAgent
The current default values for AttributesAgent regarding the free-flow velocities are not in line with the findings of weidmann-1993 (p.18). At the moment, by default the deviation is set to 0.0 (meaning that all pedestrians have a free-flow velocity of exactly 1.34 m/s).
Felix Dietrich
Felix Dietrich used in his Master thesis (dietrich-2013) the following parameters:
- radius 0.195 m -> according to Stefans search this is the only publication using 0.195m as radius "Parameter values of the GNM. The first five were set on the basis of empirical measurements [...]"
Michael Seitz
Michael Seitz used in his paper about the BHM (behavior heuristics model) seitz-2016c the following parameter set. He references Weidmann "Transporttechnik der Fußgänger" (weidmann-1993).
- mean 1.34 m/s
- deviation 0.26 m/s
- minimum speed 0.5 m/s
- maximum speed 2.0 m/s
- radius 0.20 m
Michael Seitz used in the paper "The effect of stepping on pedestrians trajectories" (seitz-2015) the following parameter set. He references weidmann-1993 (Transporttechnik der Fußgänger).
- mean 1.34 m/s
- standard deviation 0.26 m/s
Michael Seitz uses in seitz-2012 (Natural discretization of pedestrian movement in continuous space) the following parameters:
- torso diameter 0.4 m -> radius 0.2 m
- torso diameter 0.35 m -> radius 0.175 m (to allow for higher densities)
Isabella von Sivers
Isabella von Sivers used in her paper about simulation of the London subway attack 2007 with helping behavior (sivers-2016d) the following parameter set:
- mean 1.6 m/s
- standard deviation 0.26 m/s
- radius 0.20 m
Isabella von Sivers used in her PhD dissertation (sivers-2016b) the following simulation parameter (see Appendix) to calibrate on the fundamental diagram of Weidmann "Der Fahrgastwechsel im öffentlichen Personenverkehr." (weidmann-1994)
- mean 1.62 m/s
- standard deviation 0.26
- radius 0.20 m
- minimum speed 0.3 m/s
- maximum speed 3.0 m/s
-> this might be the source for the default minimum and maximum speed.
She used the following parameter set for chapter 4.4.2 Quantitative Validierung in which she validates the model against reality. For reality, results from seyfried-2010 and liddle-2011 are used. The experiments were performed with soldiers. The validation uses the evacuation time of the experiment as reference.
- radius 0.22 m
- mean 1.2 m/s (was measured in experiment at low density of 0.25 pedestrians/m^2)
- standard deviation 0.26 m/s
- minimum speed 1.0 m/s
- maximum speed 1.4 m/s
-> these parameters are chosen to represent soldiers.
Defaults to be implemented
According to weidmann-1993 (p.18), the standard values for free-flow velocities are
- mean 1.34 m/s
- deviation 0.26 m/s
- minimum speed 0.5 m/s
- maximum speed 2.2 m/s "[...] Bei einer Gehgeschwindigkeit von über 2.5m/s kann nur noch die Frequenz erhöht werden, wobei bereits bei 2.0m/s die obere Grenze des natürlichen Gehens erreicht ist. [...]. Als untere Geschwindigkeitsgrenze [...] gilt allgemein 0.5m/s. Die Spanne der normalen Gehgeschwindigkeiten reicht somit von 0.5 bis 2.2 m/s".
The values from Weidmann-1993 (Transporttechnik der Fußgänger) should be implemented in the simulator as defaults. (These are not for a specific group of pedestrians or a specific situation
